Terms 規約

Free, as is, in good faith

NazoKiro is a puzzle site offered free of charge. These terms are a binding agreement between you and the operator of NazoKiro (the “operator”): they say what you can expect, what is not promised, and the few things you must not do. By using NazoKiro you accept these terms in full; if you do not accept them, do not use the site — simply close the page.

What NazoKiro is

A collection of Japanese logic puzzles that runs entirely in your browser, free of charge. There is nothing to buy, no subscription, no account and no advertising. Donations are welcome and change nothing about what you get: every puzzle is available to everyone, always.

Using it fairly

Play as much as you like, on as many devices as you like. You must not use NazoKiro in breach of any law that applies to you, and you must not attack, overload, probe or disrupt the site or the people using it — no attempts to gain access you have not been given, no automated bulk requests, no malware, and no use of the site to harass anyone. Complying with the laws of your own jurisdiction is your responsibility, not the operator's. The operator may block, restrict or withdraw access over a breach of these terms, and reserves every other remedy the law provides.

If your breach of these terms, or your unlawful use of NazoKiro, causes the operator loss — including a claim brought by someone else, and reasonable legal costs — you agree to compensate the operator for that loss.

No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, NazoKiro is provided as is and as available, with no warranty, condition or undertaking of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. The puzzles are generated by software, and software has bugs: a puzzle may turn out flawed, a saved game may fail to load, a hint may mislead you. Nothing here is promised to be error-free, secure or uninterrupted.

Limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of NazoKiro, or your inability to use it, however the claim is framed — in contract, in tort (including negligence), for breach of statutory duty, or otherwise — including lost progress, lost records, lost time, lost data, lost profits, and any indirect or consequential loss. You use NazoKiro at your own risk. If, despite this clause, liability arises that can lawfully be limited, the operator's total liability to you for all claims together is limited to HK$100.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Where the law of your place of residence gives you rights as a consumer that these terms cannot override, those rights stand, and nothing here takes them away.

Availability

There is no guarantee that NazoKiro will be online, reachable or working at any given moment. The operator may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it — or all of it — at any time and without notice: it may be slow, broken, moved, changed beyond recognition or taken down altogether, and puzzles, features and pages may come and go. None of this creates any obligation to restore anything or to keep anything running.

Donations and refunds

A donation is a voluntary gift, not a purchase. It buys no product, unlocks no puzzle and entitles you to no service — the thank-you extras are a token of appreciation, not goods, and may change or disappear like anything else here. Donations are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law. Payments are handled entirely by PayPal, an independent service, under PayPal's own terms and privacy policy; the operator never sees your card details, is not responsible for PayPal, and cannot override whatever dispute process PayPal offers you.

What belongs to whom

The code, artwork, seals, wording and puzzle generators are the author's work and remain the author's, all rights reserved. You are warmly welcome to play as much as you like, to share links to any page, and to screenshot, stream or write about NazoKiro freely. Beyond that, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, modify, distribute, sell or otherwise exploit the site or its code, in whole or in part, without prior written permission — hosting a copy elsewhere, or passing it off as your own, included. The puzzle types themselves are traditional and belong to nobody.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised at any time. The date at the foot of the page identifies the version in force, and continuing to use the site after a revision takes effect means accepting the revised terms. If a change ever affected what happens to data on your device, the notice you saw on your first visit would be shown again rather than quietly updated.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or out of your use of NazoKiro (including non-contractual disputes), are governed by the law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the courts of Hong Kong have exclusive jurisdiction over them. If mandatory law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings there instead, nothing in this clause takes that right away.

The fine points

If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest continues in full force. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and the operator concerning NazoKiro, and your rights under them are personal to you and not transferable. Headings are for reading, not for interpretation. These terms are offered in several languages as a courtesy; if the versions ever diverge, the English text prevails.
